-A belt transmission system can easily replace the cam mechanism when round bottles have to be labeled. In this case, the container can rotate at a fixed speed when the label is applied.

-The belt is driven by an independent servomotor allowing a quick and easy format change.

-The transmission system consists of a brushless drive moving two belts (sometimes may be only one).The function of the main belt is to ensure stable platform rotation when the label is applied to the container.The auxiliary belt helps for a smooth ramp up when platform rotation begins.

-One hood covering the glue roller

-A filter for glue particles, located under the labeling station basement, easily accessible for replacement and cleaning

-A fan aspirator placed at the end of the chimney, on the top of the labeler

-Connection pipes

A photocell is installed on the  Cutting roller to detect any label remained on the transfer drum

Once the anomaly is detected, a signal is sent to the machine plc to stop the the labelling process (avoiding a label jam)

-The Automatic Splicer is a mechanical assembly suitable for all labelers having a couple of reel stands.

-The system is able to join the film without stopping the labeler. When the reel is finished, the machine slows down its speed to 80 bottles per minute while the splicer joins the film, then the speed increases again.

Picture 1 shows the parts assembled on the machine.

The system is made up of: plastic handling parts (2) and support (3).The platform is assembled with two centring pins (4), locked, when in place, by a spring system The part is replaced by pressing the lever which releases the pins (5).

The system comprises

-an extraction intake in the vicinity of the glue roller

-an air filtration chamber and a adjustable vacuum pump.

-The system extracts air from the area at which the glue is applied to the label. In this way airborne particles of glue and glue vapours generated in this area are removed with consequential reduced contamination of the vacuum drum.

-The control system can be set up such that the extraction is activated only at high speeds to minimize energy consumption and filter maintenance.

The vacuum drum can benefit from a longer life up to 50% because of the new GHA® coating and new inserts made in peek, especially in case of rough labels. GHA® coating is an hard aluminium anodization on which the micropores are filled with silver ions.Peek (Polyetheretherketone) is one of the most mechanically robust and expensive high-temperature thermoplastics.

When the inserts wear too much or in case of their replacement, it is necessary to renew their surface by a “turning” operation. The skim box (O&U reference AA15) allows it. This set of tools, easy to use, enables you to save time and protect the operator against errors.

Kit description:

-New guides in low-friction plastic easily adjustable to keep the bottles stable, preventing their ejection from the platform base

-New centering bells internally shaped to fit the bottle top for good bottle retention.

-New platform bases made from milled stainless steel to increase the friction with the bottle base, thus increasing bottle stability

-Being the existing glue roller technology obsolete, Sidel provides an new assembly to deliver the right glue quantity on label:

a Auto-adjustable glue bar with an integrated scraper system

b New concept of glue transfer with controlled temperature    

c Niches created with a laser cutting

-The pack contains the necessary unassembled parts for the installation of the new glue roller.

-The Oldham joint in the cutting unit allows the motion, through the transmission belt, of the cutting roller and at the same time allows the cutting timing according to the label format.

-With this upgrade the Oldham joint is replaced by the Cardan joint: this new component is not subjected to wear, thus allows less maintenance time and cost (it eliminates totally the ordinary maintenance) and less machine downtime. This new joint guarantees to have a more precise and controlled motion, to the full advantage of the labelling quality

-The new system consists of a grease feed pump for the lubrication, located between the vacuum distribution plate and the vacuum drum.

-Using a sensor, this system detects the number of cycles and, as required, delivers a defined amount of grease

• The new system includes a new vacuum distribution plate (green plastic plate) that will be supplied with the upgrade: the new design, in addition to the introduction of grooves, has also lightened its weight.
• The plate is completely compatible to the previous one but, with the same configuration, it leads to:
  • Less contact surface area;
  • Reduce the friction and wear between parts;
  • Fix the issue of the automatic grease hole obstruction;
  • Greater uniformity in the grease distribution.
